As an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) manufacturing company, we develop innovative pharma solutions and leverage our collective expertise to improve patient health. Based out of Indore, Central India, Symbiotec develops, produces, and markets research-based Cortico-Steroids and Steroid-Hormone APIs.

Since the inception of our R&D and pilot-scale operations in 1995, we have continually adapted the way we respond to the dynamic marketplace. We have always exhibited a readiness to change with the frequently evolving technology and route of synthesis in the Active Pharmaceuticals Ingredients (API) Industry.

Our work at a commercial scale started in 2004 after the commissioning of our manufacturing facility in Rau, Indore. We have since then established ourselves as a leading provider in the Cortico–Steroid and Steroid–Hormone Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) segment. Symbiotec takes great pride in being a WHO-GMP, ISO 9000:2000, US FDA and EU GMP certified API Manufacturing company.

Having served the Global Pharmaceutical Industry of Steroid APIs for over two decades, we have achieved this distinction with our commitment to quality, efficiency, flexibility and cost competitiveness.

Two Manufacturing Locations

  • Rau Unit – Established in 2004, dedicated facilities for Cortico-Steroid API Manufacturing.
  • SEZ Unit – Established in 2009, with dedicated facilities for Cortico-Steroid API, Hormone API, and Fermentation & Biotransformation.

With more than two decades of discerning experience as the promoter director, Anil has been managing the overall business aspects of Symbiotec. He has an impressive background in the Technical, Commercial and Finance sectors with his domain expertise lying in the technical aspects of the business.

Mr. Shankar Gopalakrishnan

With his considerable experience in domestic and cross-border M&A, Shankar has led the acquisition of three companies for Actavis in India and two companies offshore for Hikal. Shankar is also the life sciences and healthcare operating partner at Motilal Oswal Private Equity (MOPE) and has 28 years of experience as the Head of India operations of Actavis Pharma. His previous work experiences include 12 years at E. Merck India Ltd. across functions and Hikal Limited as CFO.

Mr Rohit Mantri

Rohit leads the life sciences and healthcare investments at Motilal Oswal Private Equity (MOPE). He has over 15 years of experience in the life sciences sector in private equity and investment banking.
Before joining MOPE in 2015, Rohit worked as an Associate Director at KPMG in the investment banking business, responsible for origination and execution of M&A, private equity, financial restructuring and joint venture transactions.
Rohit is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (all-India rank holder) and a qualified Company Secretary.

Sumit has the backing of over 12 years of experience in private equity and investment banking and has been with InvAscent since 2014. Before that, he worked at TA Associates, global growth Private Equity Fund and CX Partners and an Indian mid-market Private Equity Fund, focusing on life sciences investments. He has an MBA from the National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai.
